The Japanese defence of Yinliuzhen
Had a little Boxer Rebellion game the other night using a modified version of Muskets and Tomahawks. It was a similar set up to the previous Boxer game I put on last year but with a few changes.
As this was a friendly game between the pair of us there was no need for the village to be in the middle so it was enlarged and placed on side of the table with the Japanese defending it (using the new OSHIRO barricades etc) and the Chinese coming on en masse from the other side of the table.
There was a main road leading to the village through the paddy fields which was covered by units of Japanese infantry in the centre with naval crew and civilian support on the periphery; the only way for the Chinese was a direct assault...
Here is the initial set up. The Boxers were still coming up although the Imperial Chinese were already in place at the bottom of the photo.
The Boxers eventually arrived and immediately started to charge the Japanese positions

Repulsed several times the continuous fire from the Imperials started to take their toll and the Japanese, although staying at their posts, started to waver.
A final charge form the remaining Boxers managed to wipe a unit of Japanese behind one of the courtyard house walls and they swarmed over.
The Chinese were in the village but the supporting units on the peripheries were coming up via the central road and the fate of the Chinese cut off in the courtyard seemed to be sealed...
All the buildings, walls, barricades and Japanese infantry are from the OSHIRO webshop here. The Boxers and Imperial Chinese are a mix of Foundry and Redoubt with the naval brigade figures from Copplestone Castings

Even more OSHIRO releases
Trying to get regular releases done at the moment and it seems to be working.
At the moment the webshop has around 230 items in it but I've got plans, ideas, sketches, lists etc for around 500 more. I doubt that will happen of course but we can all dream :-)
So, first off is a new Chinese house/shop to compliment the existing range. CR07 Here
And then some firing steps/barricades and an artillery platform for all your colonial misadventures. These are even suitable for later conflicts such as WWI/WWII or modern games. Here
Next up is a sci-fi medium cargo skiff. Suitable for Star Wars or any other sci-fi setting. SFV03 Here
And finally for this run are a couple more additions for the Urban Future. UFA17/18 Here

BLAM 2018 Boxer Rebellion game
Apologies for the lack of posts recently, I’ve been doing some freelance work which has sapped all my time but I did get a chance to have a weekend of gaming 😊
Three days of gaming goodness at a local pub with about 30 others of various nationalities.
The first game I hosted was a small Boxer Rebellion one. The rules were a simplified version of Muskets and Tomahawks and there were four players; two Chinese and two Japanese.
The Chinese player had to get into the village compound and kill at least two units and the Japanese had to stop them. All within four turns. The Chinese could recycle units as they were of a poorer quality than the Japanese (and also, they weren’t behind barricades).
The game was played three times and it ended up with two Chinese victories and one Japanese but to be fair the first Chinese victory was down to some rather splendid dice rolling on their part and some rubbish rolling from the Japanese.
On to the photos. Not much of a battle report but the photos are here in sequence. The buildings are from my Chinese building range, the Japanese are from my Japanese figure range and the Chinese are predominantly Wargames Foundry.
Next up will be the cartel game.

New OSHIRO releases
Some of you might have seen these before but I'm putting them here for completeness.
I've got several new releases on the website and available. 15mm village buildings, 28mm Chinese building and 28mm Chinese walls. Have a look and drop us an email via the website, although there's a couple of days wait at the moment due to the amount of orders being processed (which isn't a bad thing).
Got more planned of course but these should hopefully keep you going for now :-)
First off are the 15mm Japanese village buildings. They are following the 28mm village range and will be added to in the next couple of months JV15-01 to 05. 15mm Japanese village buildings
Next up are the new Chinese 28mm buildings (I'm working on 15mm versions at the moment) CR04, CR05 and CR06. 28mm Chinese buildings
And then finally we have the Chinese wall sections. Most of them will eventually have ruined versions and I'm also working on the 15mm versions at the moment. 28mm Chinese walls
