LotR, but different

In 10mm this time. Yet another project we decided to do and has sort of stalled but we've got enough figures for a couple of small games (if they ever get painted).

Copplestone has been the provider for myself and I chose to go for Mordor orcs. A simple paint scheme of a sprayed brown base coat, a liberal washing of dark brown ink and then details picked out in either one or to highlights.

Characters had a little more time spent on them and I was quite pleased with Saruman of Many Colours (although he has been called Saruman with his technicoloured dream cloak...).

Of course, no project for us is complete with out a it of terrain and given that the figures are more generic and don't follow the Peter Jackson films the architecture could stray form his vision as well. I went for a slightly Mediterranean feel but with a fantasy element added to give it more of a Tolkein feel. I believe his intention for Gondor was somewhere around the med or something akin to Byzantine. What I came up with just felt right.

I went down the laser route for this given the details of the windows and it as simple enough to cut the walls out from card and put them together. The tiles were also laser cut and they might make an appearance in the catalogue at some point.

Simple ground work and a few trees to finish off. I've got a few small holding on the go in a similar vein and when this projet sees the light of day I';; get them out again.
