OSHIRO new releases

I've got quite a few new releases that are now ready and the first lot are below. There are also going to be some new sections in the catalogue and when they are ready to go I'll post them here.

Firstly are the new 28mm samurai releases.

We've got 5 new items in the Additions range and pictures of these are below. Prices and descriptions are on the website.

Next we've got a new fune (ship) ready. Smaller than the last one and more manageable on the table top.

Then we've got some new religious bits in the form of two torii. A simple rural one (shinmei) and a more elaborate version (hachiman). I'm also working on some other religious items but more on them later.

I've also got an emerging Edo period range on the go. Only two buildings for now but this will hopefully change in the coming months along with some more buildings and smaller additions from the period. There's a shop and a two story house.

Finally there is a Chinese headman's house for the Chinese rural range.

This are all ready to go and are available at Salute 2017 There are also a few other items that I'll post on over the weekend.

Some more figures for Japan

I'm carrying on with my British Invasion of Japan project which stalled somewhat last year.

First off are the Japanese that I've got done so far.

And here we have some more Brits.

I've done a bit more themed terrain for this project but that will be in a separate post soon (hopefullly).

LPL entries

As some of you know, my favourite forum (The Lead Adventure Forum) has a painting competition called the Lead Painters League. Basically it's a ten week competition where participants have to (ideally) enter a new 'team' of at least five figures each week with three weeks being special bonus rounds. Points are awarded for the bonus rounds and for new entries.

Quite the challenge...

Most entrants seem to use it as a good excuse to get a whole new batch of figures painted for what ever projects they have on the go and I was no exception and now the competition is officially over I can post my entries.

I failed to get new teams in for two of the rounds but all the new entries I managed are below. My painting quality seems to have improved during the contest, let's just hope it stays that way...

Round 1 - Shimazu ashigaru for generic samurai gaming

Round 2 - Shimazu ashigaru for generic samurai gaming

Round 3 - Shimazu Ashigaru for generic samurai gaming. I'd learnt after this round it's best to change subject as often as possible...

Round 4 - Korean archers for generic samurai gaming

Rounds 5 + 6 were photos I already had as I didn't have time to paint new entries but they are here for completion.

Round 7 - Boshin artillery for the British invasion of Japan.

Round 8 - Rourke's Drift characters for the British invasion of Japan (hence the different hair colours).

Round 9 - British camel corp on Mars.

Round 10 - Girls and Panzers for the Akira project.

The competition is a great impetus to get stuff done, it's just a shame I'm away on holiday so I can't carry on lol

A new project for 2015...

Which will be the Invasion of Japan!

After visiting Hakodate on Hokaido (the home of the five pointed 'Vauban' fort, Goryokaku) I've had a bubbling in the back of my mind to do some Edo period games, this has now developed into the idea of a full blown invasion of Japan by the British.

With the Perrys recent BIF releases and the ever (slowly) expanding range from Bac Ninh figures it would seem daft not to explore this rather interesting period in history.

Just so we are clear, the British never really invaded Japan with any great force, just a few minor actions here and there so why not expand this into something a little more exciting :-)

I only have a few figures painted and a nearly complete shop for it at the moment but I am drawing up the British consolate in Hakodate and have plans for steamships, part of Goryokaku and various other period specific terrain items.

Having plenty of Japanese terrain helps but something from the time is certainly in need of building (more on which later).

For now I'll leave you with some pictures of the figures that are painted so far and the wip of the shop

Whilst the going is good...

I'll post some pictures of some recently painted figures. I think most of these have made an appearance on the LAF but seeing as I'm in a posting mood here we go :-)

First off are some Bac Ninh figures, Shogunate officers and men. The chap with his arms behind his back is actually a Copplestone naval officer with head swap, seemed to work quite well.

The next lot are some Game of Thrones figures using mainly Perry WotR plastics with some Gripping Beast dark age heads and arms. There's also a bit of green stuff in the way of cloaks and wooly bits. I've got a fair few more of these put together and will hopefully paint them soon.

Also we have some old Games Workshop 'Dogs of War' figures that the Perrys did a while back. These are for an ongoing 'Army Painter' project on the LAF. I've got an awful lot of these (mainly pikemen and crossbows) but they'll get done eventually.

Finally some VSF figures for our ongoing adventures on Mars. Mainly a mix of Perrys and Copplestone with a few small green stuff bits here and there and the odd head swap. And as a slight departure from our normal 28mm shenanigans some 10mm Sudanese Brits from Pendraken that are on Mars. I'll be making a lot of stuff to go with these hopefully... Watch this space...
